This week students received a special visit from the Australian Defence Force (ADF), who delivered an information session on ADF careers and the evolving demand of STEM skills in their workplace.
Careers requiring trade and ATAR qualifications within the three branches of our armed forces (Army, Airforce and Navy) were covered in the session, however, the highlight for the day was when our students were able to try out the virtual reality simulator to refuel a fighter and fly a drone.
STEM capabilities are in high demand within the ADF and students were encouraged to apply themselves to Science, Mathematics and some elements of Physics in preparation for a promising future career.
It was a fantastic opportunity for our students to have a ‘taste of reality’ by having a go of the simulators, but equally great to hear all about the opportunities within the ADF career market and how our students can be prepared for their futures.
Our thanks to David Hooper and Shaun Ware from the Defence Force Recruiting Team for their time.
