Our Year 7s have been enthusiastically engaging in experiments in Science so far this term.

One of the first tasks our students have checked off their list is to obtain their ‘Bunsen Burner Licence’.  They have also become competent in how to be safe in the Science lab and discover what ‘working scientifically’ means.

The pictured students were using a Bunsen Burner for the first time to boil water. When they saw that water was not boiling at 100 degrees Celsius, there were some surprising expressions around the classroom! The question to be answered then became “why is water not boiling at 100 degrees Celsius?”
