Mrs Estie Wiid | Netball Coordinator
Nine of our Junior netball players participated in the Laura Geitz Shield competition late last month in Toowoomba. It was wonderful to see our girls rise to the occasion with a sense of pride and passion, as Laura Geitz former Firebirds, Diamonds and Australian Captain, played her first game of netball as a Year 8 student at Scots PGC in 2001. For many of the young players, Laura Geitz is a role model and her success inspires the girls to aim higher and to strive to do their best.
On court our girls demonstrated great sportsmanship and gained plenty of experience, improving their attacking and defensive tactics and reaction times with each game they played.
The girls played eight games on the day but their matches against Lockyer District State School, Wilsonton SHS and Concordia were their best performances, making turnovers and demonstrating excellent goal shooting skills.
Holly Naughten’s participation in the coaching of umpires’ activities, contributed to the provision of quality umpires at the competition. Holly recently obtained her Development Coaching Accreditation.
The expertise of Louise Ratcliffe (netball coach) and the support of parents and grandparents further contributed to an enjoyable and successful day of netball!
