On the holidays, our SCOTS PGC Equestrian team headed to Toowoomba for the annual State Championships. The team competed at multiple qualifying events leading up to this event, including our own SCOTS PGC Equestrian event. Despite COVID, we were able to qualify for the State disciplines, which we’re all very grateful for after what has been a difficult year.

The week began with Show Horse event, with Mia Bischoff, Natasha Paganin, Sophie Brennan, Hanaka Parker and Kate Lyttle each receiving an overall placing and Jess Angus winning overall. Jess also received an overall placing in dressage alongside Sophie Brennan and Kate Lyttle.

Show jumping ran over the first three days of the competition with Shakira Hilton receiving two overall placings as well as Mia Bischoff, Tom Brash, Jess Angus, Lucy Jackson, Kate Lyttle and myself (Tom Keable) also placing overall.  Jess Angus, Gabi Sellick, Kate Lyttle, Lucy Jackson and myself also received Combined Training overall placings.

We are very proud to report that the SCOTS PGC team placed in every discipline:

  • Show horse 3rd
  • Dressage 6th
  • Showjumping 2nd and 5th

The Combined Training teams are yet to be announced this weekend at the Eventing Championships which will also be held at the Toowoomba Showgrounds.

On behalf of the team, I’d like to extend a special thanks to our coaches – Grace, Sally and Bec and Mr Wilson for all their help.   This year has been a very successful year for the SCOTS Equestrian team and we wish our riders the best of luck for the weekend of eventing ahead.
