Year One Fire Brigade Visit

The Warwick Fire Station officers made their annual visit to our Year 1 students recently. The children learned about fire safety. They were required to know their address in order to use the fire hoses. Our little students were respectful and demonstrated lovely manners during this exciting experience. They wrote thank you letters with beautiful handwriting to Fire Officers Brad and Chris. We sent these letters to the Fire Station. Some of these lovely stories are recorded below. Mrs Shell Campbell – Year 1 Teacher

Dear Fire Officers,

Thank you for visiting us. I learned how to use the fire hoses. I learned how to keep safe. I also now know what to do if my house is on fire. I know if there is smoke in the house I know to “Get down low and go, go, go!” I saw your giant nail clippers (Jaws of life). I also saw all of the 12 hoses. I also saw the esky full of water bottles. I loved the sound of the sirens. I also now know there are good fires and bad fires.

Thank you for your good work!

Dear Fire Officers,

Thank you for visiting Year 1. I learned about good fires and bad fires. I learned how to use the fire hose and I learned how to “Get down low and go, go, go!” I loved when Mrs Campbell wet us and when Fire Officer Chris gave us the rulers and gave us the stickers. I loved when they showed us the hoses and the lunch boxes. You also showed us the first aid box and the orange cones. You showed us how to open the fire truck door too. Thank you for being really good at your job. I love you, Fire Officers.

Dear Fire Officers,

Thank you for teaching us what is a bad fire and a good fire. Thank you for letting us use the fire hose. I really know how to use the fire hose now, because you were here for me. I learned to “Get down low and go, go go!” I loved when Mrs Campbell sprayed me. I loved getting my ruler and my sticker. I loved all of the 12 hoses. I really know why my address is very important because there might be a fire in my house. I loved the lights of the fire truck. I know now why your job is important and very scary.
