Queensland All Schools Touch

Tom Bradbury
Assistant Director of Co-curricular

Last week the Senior Mixed Touch team contested the Queensland All Schools Touch in the Under 18 division.

While results varied with four losses and a win from our five pool matches, all our athletes performed with distinction on and off the field, representing the College in an exemplary manner.

Our team managed to lift their defence against Beerwah SHS to secure the win.

Team members included Charlie Brennand and Kate Wild as Captains, Renee Judd, Tshinta Kendall, Mitchell Mack, Maddie Mathies, Emily Rhodes, Lachlan Titus, Ryan Balint, Jasmine Alexanderson, Max Batterham and Tom Winter.

Charlie was named Players’ Player on day one with Tshinta taking the honour on day two. The overall Player’s Player went to Tom Winter and the Most Improved to Emily in a tight contest with Mitchell and Lachlan. Thank you to Mrs Christine Petersen for coming along as team manager and to Mrs Lauren Fowler for coaching the team in the lead-up to the event.

Futsal

Further to the wonderful news of Bradley Cook’s success at the National Schools Championship, I am excited to announce that Bradley has been invited to tour Chile next year with the Australian Under 16 Boys Futsal team. Congratulations Bradley on your achievement!

Rugby 7s
Tuesday night saw the first round of the South West 7s competition held at Gold Park, Toowoomba.

Our Under 14 and 16 girls each competed in two games against other regional schools.

The Under 14 team secured a convincing win against the Our Lady of the Southern Cross College (OLSCC) team from Dalby yet went down to the number one Glennie team in a tough game.

The Under 16 team defeated St Ursula’s number two team and experienced a narrow loss to Fairholme.

The Under 14 and 16 boys and Under 18 girls play their first round of fixtures next Thursday 25 October.

Training for these teams is on Tuesday and Thursday each week.

The South West 7s competition runs until:

  • 5 November for Under 18 girls
  • 27 November for Under 14 and 16 girls
  • 29 November for Under 14 and 16 boys

Unfortunately due to weather this past week the QCIS 7s carnival which was scheduled to take place yesterday was cancelled.
