Equestrian Success

On the weekend of 24th and 25th of February 16 riders, with 19 horses, from the 2018 SCOTS PGC Equestrian Team represented the College with pride at the first Interschool competition of the year.  Many new members have been welcomed to the team this year, and for some this was their first ever Queensland Interschool event.  The Fairholme College Combined Training and Show Jumping event was held at Pittsworth Showgrounds.  The event commenced with Combined Training on Saturday morning, with 6 riders representing SCOTS PGC in this discipline, which consists of both dressage and showjumping.  Many personal bests and first times were achieved by these riders, with some noteworthy results being:

105cm Combined Training – Maddie Mathies 1st  and Georgia Rohde – 2nd

95cm Combined Training – Georgia Rohde – 4th and Darcy Turner – 6th

80cm Combined Training – Lucy Jackson-Sharpe – 2nd  and  Pip Wolstenholme – 4th

60cm Primary Combined Training –  Jack Perkins – 5th


The Showjumping competition consisted of 3 rounds held over 2 days commencing Saturday afternoon.  SCOTS fielded a strong team of 16 competitors in this discipline.  Again, many riders achieved personal bests and competed at new heights throughout the programme. Jasmine Alexanderson, Maddie Mathies, Georgia Rohde, Darcy Turner Leilani Hall, Pip Wolstenholme, Lucy Jackson-Sharpe, and Jacolene De Jager received many placings over the two days competing in the Showjumping along with the following wonderful overall placings:

110cm Showjumping –   Chase Naylor- 2nd and Tom Keable – 4th

100cm Showjumping – Tye Wickham – 2nd

90cm Showjumping –  Felicity Sellick – 1st

80cm Showjumping – Anna Hegerty- 2nd

70cm Showjumping –  James Lascelles-King – 3rd

60cm Primary Showjumping –  Phoebe Sellick – 4th and Jack Perkins – 5th

50cm Primary Showjumping – Phoebe Sellick – 5th


All SCOTS students showed an outstanding level of teamwork, support for each other, and commitment to their sport, attending an information seminar on horse nutrition after a long day of competition on Saturday and packing away equipment at the close of competition on Sunday.  We look forward to an exciting year of competition throughout 2018.
