Darling Downs Selection

Last week Sam Wainwright was successful in gaining selection in the 12 years Darling Downs Rugby League team, whilst Krystal Petersen was selected in the 12 years Girls Hockey Team.
Following the Darling Downs Trials in a number of Sports on Tuesday, the College is pleased to advise the following students have been selected in Darling Downs Teams to represent the region at their respective State Championships.
– Orienteering: Ewan McFarland
– Rugby Union: 15 years and Under: Buchanan Titus, Will Gilmore, Willem Wiid and Beau Kendall
We congratulate these students on their success and also to the students who trialled but were unsuccessful at these trials and the Darling Downs 12 years Touch and 15 years Basketball.
Southern Downs and Border District Cross Country
On the 3rd of May the College fielded teams in the Southern Downs Zone Cross Country for 10-12 year olds and the Border District Cross Country for 13-18 year olds. Our students have been training hard over Term 1 and early Term 2 and their efforts certainly paid off, with our Southern Downs Team winning the Championship Trophy (see main photo) and the senior Border Districts team coming 2nd overall.
Border Districts:  Maddie Mathies (1st), Pip Wolstenholme (2nd), Evan Doughboy (3rd), Max Battherham (3rd) and Ewan McFarland (1st).
The College’s Border District Cross Country Team came 2nd overall.
Troy Kiepe placed 2nd in the 12 years boys race.
Riley Wainwright won the 11 year old boys race.
Briana Groves won the 11 year old girls race.
QCIS Cross Country
Next week the 8th of May we will once again host the QCIS Cross Country between ourselves, Downlands, Concordia, Mary Mackillop, TACAPS, Brigidine and Ambrose Treacy. The day starts around 9am and will feature numerous runners of some note from across the seven schools.
QCIS Indoor Soccer
On May 25th we will be heading off to Brisbane for the QCIS Indoor Soccer. We look like fielding 7 teams from Year 5 to Year 12 and training has commenced in earnest on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.
