Combined Training and Dressage Competition
Last weekend saw another very successful equestrian event run by the tireless and committed SCOTS PGC Equestrian Parents and Supporters Group. This small (but busy) group of supporters should be applauded, as should the large list of very generous sponsors for their tremendous support.
The Combined Training and Dressage competitions were held on Saturday at the Warwick Horse Trials facility at Morgan Park. The event also operated as a State Qualifier for those successful competitors within the Interschool Queensland framework. The incredible support of the College from the Warwick Horse Trials community continues, and sincere gratitude is extended to them.
SCOTS PGC Equestrian fielded an astounding team of 20+ riders for the Combined Training and Dressage, and consequently the results are too extensive to list in a small newsletter article. Results of note include the SCOTS PGC Senior Dressage Team taking out 1st place in the Teams event. The College was ultimately successful in also taking out 1st and 3rd places in the Senior Combined Training Teams event.
The results speak for themselves as to the depth and talent of the College riders. What is unseen is the professional and committed nature of each of the individual riders (and their support crews), and their passion for Equestrian sport. Congratulations are in order to the team as a whole, particularly for the exemplary conduct they continue to display at each event. Sincere thanks are also extended to Peter Wilson and Helen Bohm for their continued support of all equestrian pursuits.
A most notable mention goes to the SCOTS PGC College Pipes & Drums supporters group who ran the canteen for the event. True to reputation, their delicious food did not disappoint anyone who enjoyed the canteen facility – crowd favourites included the delicious rib fillet burger and the crunchiest of chips! The event could not run without this support from you all.
The focus now rolls on to the Darling Downs Interschool Championships being held at Dalby Showgrounds next weekend. A lot of late evenings, early mornings and wet saddlecloths will go into the preparations for this fiercely competitive event. As a College, we wish the Team every success for the Championships.
On the horizon is the second of the events run by the Supporters Group, the Showjumping, Show Horse and Showman competition being held on 26th & 27th May 2018 at Warwick Horse Trials at Morgan Park. We would welcome any support from the College community, and you can contact Sally Keable on 0408 750 505 if you would like to volunteer as part of this event.
