Darling Downs Swimming Trials 13-19 yrs and 9-12yrs
At Tuesday’s Darling Downs 13-19yrs Swimming Trials in Gatton five SCOTS students pitted their skills and speed against the best in the region for their spot in the Darling Downs Team to contest the Queensland 13-19yrs School Swimming Championships later this term. Will Gilmore, Tom Winter, Rachel Caton, Shona McFarland and Emily Rhodes represented the College impeccably in very impressive company over eighteen different event in which they had qualified to trial. Will and Tom were both successful in gaining selection in the Darling Downs Team for the 50m Freestyle, 50m Butterfly and the 100m Freestyle with their impressive performances. Shona gained placings in a few of her events and scored a 5 second PB in her 200m IM which was certainly a highlight of the day. Rachel and Emily gained placings in their respective events but were unable to reach the qualifying standards set to attend the State Cahmpionships.
Next Tuesday the Darling Downs 12 yrs and Under Swimming Championships will be held at the Gatton pool once again, and we have seven students who have qualified to attend through last weeks Southern Downs Trials. Congratulations and best wishes to the following students selected in the Southern Downs Team to attend these trials. Michaela Hardy, Ellyse Kruger, Krystal Petersen, James Bourke, Samuel Bourke, Percy Kruger and Liam Poole will fight it out for spots in the Darling Downs Team to contest the State Championships later this Year.
