USQ Careers Day
On Thursday 26th July, as part of the SET Plan process, the College will be taking the Year 10 cohort to the USQ Careers Day that is being held at the USQ Toowoomba Campus.
This event offers a great opportunity for students who are considering university as well as those who might be looking at an alternate pathway such as TAFE or the Defence Force.
Prior to the day, the students are asked to select from a range of interesting and inspiring workshop sessions that are tailored to their areas of interest. By attending their pre-selected workshops on the day, students will experience what university is all about and see first-hand similarities and differences between university, TAFE and the Defence Force.
Students will depart the College by bus at 7.15 am and are expected back by 3.30 pm that afternoon. Formal winter school uniform is to be worn by all students. A letter outlining the details of the day and an excursion permission form for parents to sign has been SEQTA’d and emailed to all parents of Year 10 students. It would be appreciated if the signed permission forms were returned, via email or fax to Mrs Bellingham in the VET Office by Monday 23rd July. For more information please contact Mr Peter Pickering on 46669823 or Mrs Melissa Bellingham on 46669851.
2018 Warwick Careers Expo
The Warwick Careers Expo is being held on Tuesday 25th July between 1.30pm-4.00 pm at the Warwick State High School Hall.
Careers Expos are an invaluable opportunity for students to explore career pathways, career opportunities, gather information about the course offerings at different universities throughout Queensland and speak to representatives about associated issues such as scholarships and accommodation.
Representatives from various universities, group training companies, TAFE, various government departments and agencies and the local council will be attending this event as well as representatives from some local businesses, interstate training providers and training organisations.
The Year 10 Cohort and any interested Year 11 and 12 students will be visiting the Careers Expo during school time, thus providing all students with the opportunity to explore a variety of career and further study options. A letter has been emailed to the parents of all Year 10 students this week outlining the details of the afternoon. For more information please contact Mr Peter Pickering on 46669823 or Mrs Melissa Bellingham on 46669851.
